Lily pads & Sarasa. Summer 2011.

I'm told it is a really good thing to back-up your computer files.  Also to remove large photos and files you aren't using to keep space open on your computer, supposedly it makes it run faster.  Nonsense I say!  I will admit I had noticed my little gidget-gadget, my beloved macbook pro, running a bit slower lately.  So I listened to this sage advice and did some much-needed electronic housekeeping.  (If only I could do this in my studio.)  While moving these files to my external hard drive, I found some lovely photos and mementos from the past I'd like to share.

Diamond Dove. Marché aux fleurs et aux oiseaux de Paris. July 2011.

La Belle Époque

The Belle Époque is a period in European history - from the late 19th century through about WWI.  It coincides with the end of the Victorian period through the Edwardian period and the stylistic period known as Art Nouveau.  The "Beautiful Era" was a renaissance, a renewal and bebirth in the arts, sciences, and social structure of society.

For my own work I've gained much inspiration from this fascinating period.  My interest in it only grows with every Louis Comfort Tiffany lamp or cabinet card I see.
