Lee Ohio : September 2010

the ShopSCAD catalog

I must express my deepest gratitude to shopSCAD, the gallery & boutique of my alma mater, the Savannah College of Art and Design.  The boutique features artwork and designs of SCAD students, faculty and alumni.  ShopSCAD has locations in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, and a gallery on their campus in Lacoste, France.  My work has been represented in all shopSCAD locations for over two years and it continues to be an integral part in why Lee Ohio is a success.

ShopSCAD has launched their first paper and e-catalog and I am beyond honored to be included within it as well.  Thank you to Amy Zurcher, the.... creator/dreamer of? ...manager? ...curator? all of the above and and more of shopSCAD.  (ShopSCAD Goddess should probably be the title she lobbies for.)   She does everything in the boutique from organizing this catalog to hand-selecting all the pieces from each artist that enters the shop to press releases and more.  Recently she also was a guest curator on Etsy's blog the Storque and wrote about the many talented SCAD artists on Etsy. You can read the story on the Storque or a previous blog post.

Also Thank you to Kyle Millsap, Whitney Dail, the fabulous staff, and everyone who makes all that is shopSCAD possible.  For a complete view of the e-catalog please visit here.

Also viewable at the shopSCAD blog is a complete list of credit for everyone who made this fabulous catalog possible; please look it over because they definitely deserve the recognition.  All the photographs I've posted are from the shopSCAD 2010 catalog and were taken by Chia Chong.

Along with the work of other artists, a number of Lee Ohio necklaces, bracelets and an earring pair are shown here in the catalog and are available at shopSCAD. If you'd like more info about any of the pieces here or the larger stock of Lee Ohio available in the boutiques, please contact shopSCAD.

The Legend of the Guardians.

A treasury of owls inspired by the movie Legend of the Guardians. Love. Above is a print from one of my most beloved shops on Etsy (I think I've "hearted" every item in his shop), The Mincing Mockingbird. The original painting is poignantly titled, My Good Breeding Clashes with my Eagerness and Envy and is available for $320 (act fast! originals are rarely available). And if you're anything like me and are too overwhelmed to select a print or two, might I suggest you buy the book? It is Folly to Assume My Awesome Lies Dormant is available as well.

I hope you like the painting above and adore all of my owl selections. Enjoy.

Decorative vintage owls from Chicago Artist 29. $40 for pair.

The Forest's Edge locket by Marisol Spoon. $35.

Vintage miniature owl figurine from The Vintage Wren. $4.

Newton the Barn Owl 16" x 16" fine art print by
Rocky Top Studio (Nature Mandalas). $200.

Hand-painted itty bitty nesting owls by Savage Artworks. $52.

Come for Tea altered slip cast ceramic figurine by The Runny Bunny. $28.

Owl on Bowler Hat silk screen print by Utilitarian Franchise. $30.

catastrophic fail = sad face.

Pluto as a planet and Triceratops as a dinosaur; add to that list my beloved Macbook pro as a functioning computer and a failure of science. Now I'm not here to debate the merits of Macs versus Windows-based computers (or desktops versus laptops)... I'm just here to whine. And then whine a little more. I live in a home with a PC-lover and I'm a Mac person. That can make our coversations around technology as confrontational and volatile as if one of us were a right-wing conservative and the other a lefty liberal. But I digress. It has been extremely difficult to photograph, edit and list and new jewelry for the past week and I have a very sad face. Patience (I'm telling myself that).

New computer on the way.
love.

N15 (sad face) fine art print by Christina Romeo.

Thank you Etsy.

I'm proud to tell you all that Lee Ohio's Esmerelda necklace has been included in the mailing list & Storque September Shopping Guide from Etsy. Thank you Etsy and thank you Mary!

As the message says:
< September is classically a time to refocus, hunker down and get organized for the involved season ahead. This time of year gives the perfect excuse to procure key basics and layering elements for a smart autumn wardrobe, snag those final details for returning to school or work, think about Halloween decor, and check off gifts for upcoming birthdays and celebrations on the list. >

In other words, go forth and shop! And Don't forget - Lee Ohio will be present at Ocean Springs' Art Walk this weekend on Saturday the 4th of September.

Esmerelda. Moss moss, London blue topaz, sapphires
